The Roundabout

Thursday, January 22, 2026

In this week’s Roundabout, we report from a large community protest in Woodbury denouncing recent federal immigration actions, a demonstration that drew residents from across generations.

We also report on DNR developments, county updates including bridge work on I-94, and community events around Woodbury.

As you make your plans for the week ahead, be aware that the National Weather Service has issued an extreme cold watch for Friday through Saturday morning, with temperatures far below zero and wind chills that could make brief outdoor exposure dangerous.

Stay safe, Woodbury!

Protesters in Woodbury Decry ICE Activities in Minnesota

by Doug Schultz | Published on Jan. 21, 2026

Braving 14 degrees with a biting wind, about 300 people stood with signs and walked along a short stretch of Woodbury’s Radio Drive Saturday morning to protest recent actions by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel in Minnesota.

Though the event was organized by several area high school students, the protesters were of all ages, from late teens and 20-somethings to people in their late 70s, including one woman using a cane for assistance. They marched from Central Park Place to Valley Creek Drive and back again.

They chanted slogans such as “What do we want? ICE out!” and “When do we want it? Right now!” Protesters carried signs with a wide range of messages: “ICE = Immoral, Cowardly, Evil” and “We Rise by Lifting Others” and “This is the Government Our Founders Warned Us About.”
