The Roundabout
Thursday, November 6, 2025
Welcome to your weekly Roundabout.
Tuesday’s election results brought key changes across the community, with Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaeger winning the Senate District 47 race to keep the DFL’s one-seat majority in the state Senate. Local ballots also carried weight, as voters elected a mix of new and returning members to the ISD 833 School Board and rejected District 622’s proposed tax levy measures, decisions that will influence classrooms and community priorities for years to come.
In non-election related news, Woodbury is celebrating progress of a different kind. The newly renovated Central Park officially reopened with two grand opening events, and Kowalski’s Markets marked 25 years of serving residents groceries. From the polls to the parks, this week has strongly reflected Woodbury’s continued growth and sense of community.

Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaeger will move from the Minnesota House to the state Senate after defeating Republican Dwight Dorau in Tuesday’s special election for Senate District 47, solidifying the DFL’s one-seat majority heading into the 2026 session.
According to preliminary results reported by the state Secretary of State’s Office, Hemmingsen-Jaeger received 13,527 votes to Dorau’s 8,383, with 36.89 percent of registered voters casting ballots. The DFL victory keeps control of the Minnesota Senate, 34-33.
At Tuesday night’s DFL watch party at Ray J’s in Woodbury, with Senate Majority Leader Erin Murphy and Sen. Sandra L. Pappas in attendance, Hemmingsen-Jaeger described the anticipation before results came in as feeling like Christmas Eve.
