Fun Fact
The water in Woodbury is hard (even with temperatures above freezing). Our water comes from the Jordan Aquifer deep in the earth and travels through layers of rock to reach the surface, picking up minerals like calcium carbonate, magnesium, and iron along the way. These minerals can even discolor water.
Hardness is measured in grains:
Low Hardness (0-3 grains per gallon): This is considered soft water, which rarely causes buildup and doesn’t leave residue on skin, dishes, or appliances.
Moderate Hardness (4-7 gpg): Slightly hard water that may begin to show minor buildup but generally has minimal impact on daily use.
High Hardness (8-14 gpg): Hard water, likely to cause noticeable mineral buildup in pipes, appliances, and fixtures, and can leave skin feeling dry.
Very High Hardness (15+ gpg): Extremely hard water, often requiring a water softener to reduce scale buildup and enhance appliance efficiency.
The city reports natural levels of 13.5 gpg.
