You’ve been asked to organize an event with food for family, friends or work colleagues gathering to celebrate. Now you need to find a space where you can be together, visit, celebrate and eat.

Maple Syrup Hike

Saturday, March 14, 1-3 p.m. | Carpenter Nature Center, 12805 St. Croix Trail S., Hastings

Take a muddy hike to the sugarbush to learn how tree sap becomes syrup and sample the finished product. Registration required. $8.

Presented by the East Metro Symphony Orchestra, featuring Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and Dvořák’s “New World Symphony.” Free, donations welcome.

Raptor Art Class
Tuesday, March 17-March 20, noon to 4 p.m. | Carpenter Nature Center, 12805 St. Croix Trail S., Hastings

Students ages 12-15 spend three afternoons drawing and painting live birds of prey. Pre-registration required. $50, scholarships available.

Intro to Beekeeping
Wednesday, March 18, 6-8 p.m. | Shepherd Farm, 8946 70th St., Cottage Grove

Adults learn how to manage bee hives through a season-long program from spring hatch through honey harvest and winter preparation. Registration required. $280.

Inflatable Fun Fest
Friday, March 20, 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. | Cottage Grove Ice Arena, 8020 80th St., Cottage Grove

Tickets include 90 minutes of running and jumping on large inflatables set up on turf. $16.

Bluebird Nesting Presentation
Saturday, March 21, 11 a.m. | Wild Birds Unlimited, 8390 Tamarack Village

Guests from the Bluebird Program of Minnesota will share information about bluebird nesting season and building nesting boxes. Free.

Explore ancient Minnesota fossils, from brachiopods to mammoths.
