Roundabout: Out & About

Tuesday, May 12, 2026

Good morning.

If the smell of the plants didn’t tell you already, I will: spring is here! And in this week’s Out & About, we highlight all that comes with the season, including a feature on a tucked-away greenhouse near Woodbury offering flowers, vegetables and native plants.

In our events, you’ll also find fire station tours, concerts, garden sales, community gatherings and more happening across the east metro.

Enjoy!

Now that spring is here, you need flowers to plant in your yard or in pots on your deck, and there are greenhouses full of geraniums, marigolds and native plants waiting for you just at the eastern edge of Woodbury.

You may not have noticed the greenhouses at the corner of Lower Afton Road (the continuation of Valley Creek Road) and Century Avenue because they are tucked behind the Ramsey County Corrections Facility

Fun Fact

Woodbury’s first town hall was built on the Afton Road in 1875. That was the only government building until 1957, when meetings were switched to the Woodbury Community Center. The unpainted building was heated with a pot-bellied stove and lit by kerosene and gas fixtures. The voting booths were on a platform in the front of the room and were illuminated by candlelight.
