Roundabout: Out & About

Wednesday, October 1, 2025

Good morning!

In this week’s Out & About, we’re taking a bite out of fall with “An Apple A Day Destinations,” your guide to nearby orchards where the apples are crisp, the hayrides are rolling and the season is in full swing.

The calendar may say October, but the forecast has other ideas. With summer-like warmth holding on, fall traditions aren’t going anywhere, they just come with fewer layers. Think of it as a chance to enjoy cider, corn mazes and apple-picking without needing to bundle up.

We’ve also got highlights like Country Sun Farm’s family attractions and the Lake Elmo Corn Maze, plus a full slate of upcoming events, from haunted trolley tours and guided night hikes to concerts, painting workshops and community festivals.

An Apple A Day Destinations

By: Beth-Ann Bloom

Crisp fall air begs for crisp fall apples. While the apples in the stores are good there’s nothing like the fruit and the fun at the orchard. There are lots of nearby options for a core experience following Johnny Appleseed’s example.

Be sure to check the links to the orchards before visiting. See which varieties of apples are ripe and check hours and offerings, which vary through the season and are often impacted by weather.
