This weekly newsletter will highlight key events, arts, and culture in the area. We begin with fireworks, literally! Several Fourth of July festivities are on tap. We share what you told us were your favorite restaurants, a buffet of old treasures and new delights. Our events listings are full of ideas to well, get out and about. And our word scramble sparkles.

Fourth Of July

Woodbury’s Fourth of July Hometown Celebration will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the M Health Fairview Sports Center complex on Friday, July 4.
Woodbury, Nearby Cities Plan Festive Holiday
by Pat Mack | A night of family fun at M Health Fairview Sports Center complex in Woodbury will be capped off by fireworks at 10 p.m. on Friday, July 4.
The hometown celebration begins at 5:30 p.m. with music by local duo Jesse Totushek and Faydra Lagro. They will be followed by headliner Bluewater Kings Band. At 6 p.m., bounce houses will open and food trucks will provide a number of culinary options.
People are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets. Parking is available at the parking lot for the sports center and East Ridge High School. No parking will be allowed along Bailey Road and Radio Drive. For the latest construction near the sports center …

Area Fourth Of July Events
4 on the Fourth
8:30 a.m. | Colby Lake Park, Woodbury
This four-mile run travels along a paved trail in a lollipop-style race, beginning and ending at Colby Lake Park. A 1k for kids is set for 8 a.m. Registration required.
Lake Elmo Kids Fourth of July Parade
10 a.m. | A map of the route is available here
It’s the 37th year for the parade that’s expected to attract more than 1,000 kids. After the parade, activities downtown and at Lion’s Park will include an ice cream social, fire trucks, face painting and temporary tattoos, a flag giveaway, and minnow races.
Afton Fourth of July Parade
1 p.m. | Main Street, Afton
The ultimate small town parade marches in one direction and doubles back.
Stillwater Fourth of July Celebration
Begins at 3 p.m. | Stillwater, MN
Battery 1, 1st U.S. Artillery will have live cannon firings at 3, 4, 5, and 7 p.m. at Mulberry Point, Lowell Park. Capital Sons perform at 5:30 p.m. and Audi Circus at 8 p.m. at the Amphitheater Stage. The St. Croix Jazz Orchestra plays from 7-9 p.m. at Pioneer Park Bandshell. Fireworks over the St. Croix River and Historic Lift Bridge start around 10 p.m. Veterans have a viewing area at Lowell Park's pedestrian plaza.
Fourth of July Hometown Celebration

At 5:30 p.m. live music begins at M Health Fairview Sports Center complex. At 6 p.m., bounce houses and food trucks open. Fireworks are set for 10 p.m.
Hastings Fourth of July Parade and Fireworks
Begins at 7 p.m. | Hastings, MN
Parade runs eastbound on 15th Street from General Sieben Drive to Westview Drive. At 7:30 p.m. live music and food begins at the Hastings Golf Club and Hastings Public House. Fireworks and a fire truck light show at Golf Club are set for 10 p.m.
Fourth of July Celebration
Sunday, July 6, 6:30 p.m. | Kingston Park, Cottage Grove, Minn.
The Cottage Grove Lions are hosting their annual Fourth of July picnic and fireworks. Ice cream and cheese curd/roasted corn vendors, bike raffles for kids, as well as hot dogs, burgers, chips, beverages, available to purchase. Fireworks go off at dusk.
