Roundabout: Out & About

Tuesday, January 13, 2026

Welcome to your weekly Out & About.

Winter is doing its thing across Washington County, and this week’s lineup leans right into it: from a chance to help name the county’s snowplows to outdoor festivals, community gatherings and plenty of ways to stay busy despite the cold.

You’ll also find opportunities to give back, with Tamarack Tap Room’s winter coat drive near the end of the month. So take a look around and make sure you vote!

Vote Open to Name Washington County’s Snowplows

By: Beth-Ann Bloom

Two of the county’s big orange snowplows will not be nameless much longer. Final voting in the Name the Snowplow contest is now underway and will continue through Jan. 23 at this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WCNameAPlowFinalist.

More than 1,400 suggestions were submitted for the previously unnamed vehicles. County staff narrowed the list to a set of finalist names that will be painted on the plows that widen driving lanes on county roads.

Fun Fact

By the first of the year, we’d already had 23.1 inches of the white stuff, a bit ahead of the 19.1-inch average and well on our way to a season total of 46 inches. Woodbury generally sees 15 days of snow in a typical winter, but it seems much longer with about 50 days of five inches or more of snow sitting on our lawns.
